Antioquia (Los Colores & Balandu)

Antioquia (Los Colores & Balandu)

per person

The Department of Antioquia is considered one of the richest and most bird-diverse in Colombia, therefore in the world. The great variety of ecosystems and different elevations in a relatively small area plus its geographical delimitation by the valleys of the Cauca and Magdalena rivers creates the perfect habitat for at least 1000 birds registered in this beautiful department. This Relax and Easy (R&E) tour combines mountain ecosystems and Tropical Humid Forests making of this department a perfect destination to enjoy nature in a landscape of rivers, forests and culture, where the birds are at your fingertips and a good coffee can be enjoyed at any time of the day.

Because this is an R&E Tour, there is no physically demanding activity and the hikes will be on flat and open roads. If an interesting bird is found, then we might explore the interior of the forest or attempt to enter a trail for a very short distance. The day starts with breakfast usually at 6:30 am leaving to field around 7:00 am. On days when we are not driving, we will offer a midday break and a birding resume for a few hours in the afternoon. Every hotel gives you the choice to join the birding group or to stay in the facilities enjoying the birds around as well as other attractions like pools, gardens, and trails among others.

The tour is designed for beginners to intermediate bird watchers and those desiring a more relaxed pace. Here, birding is at the leisure of the clients’ wishes.
